Ahead of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in March, we would like to share some exciting news around the Proactive for Your Prostate campaign for a prostate cancer screening programme and the incredible support it is receiving.
We are delighted to welcome former Prime Minister of the UK Rishi Sunak as an ambassador for the charity, a role he will use to champion our campaign to introduce a national screening programme. His depth of knowledge and experience in Parliament will be invaluable in helping us get screening over the line.
It is fantastic that our campaign for prostate cancer screening continues to receive cross-party support.
The announcement follows a visit made by Rishi last week to the labs of a pioneering prostate cancer biotechnology company, Oxford Biodynamics. During the trip, Rishi spoke to the team behind the company’s EpiSwitch PSE blood test. This new test has been shown to detect prostate cancer with 94% accuracy.
Rishi also met with several men with prostate cancer, to hear their perspective on the importance of early prostate cancer detection.
We are also very excited to welcome our first Proactive Champions – charities and industry partners who are supporting our call for screening.
